Archibald Fountain Hyde Park, Sydney, Australia December 26, 2005 |
On boxing day, we said goodbye to the Schirmer family and made our way to the center of the city. We walked through Hyde Park, Sydney's central open green space, which was named after the Hyde Park in London. The Archibald Fountain, located at the northern end of the park, is the work of French sculptor François Sicard. It is intended to commemorate the association between Australia and France in the first world war, depicting a bronze Apollo surrounded by other mythical figures.
We stopped for a quick picture, but Chiyo was getting hungry and she was not in a good mood!
