Onigawara Demon Roof Tile Ryoanji, Kyoto, Japan October 6, 2007 Nikon D40X

Our next stop on this sightseeing trip was Ryoanji, a Zen temple in northwestern Kyoto.

I noticed that the roofs of certain buildings had fantastic roof tiles, shaped like demon faces. These are called Onigawara, and can be seen all over Kyoto. I particularly liked this one.
