Ryu felt much better the next morning so we left early for one last day of exploration. We were finally going to visit historical Shinsengumi locations, starting with the Yagi-tei residence in Mibu.

This is the residence where Serizawa Kamo, commander of the Mibu Rôshigumi, was assasinated on October 30th, 1863. There is some debate about who actually committed the murder, but as part of the visit you can actually see a mark that was caused by a sword on a door frame, the night when he was killed. Like most stories about the Shinsengumi, it is a fascinating tale.
