Ryu and papa Banyan Tree Square, Lahaina April 19, 1999 |
After a few days in Kaanapali, we rented a small car and drove to Kihei. We stopped in Lahaina for lunch at Pacific'O and a bit of sightseeing. This picture of Ryu and myself was taken at Banyan Tree Square. This tree was planted in 1873 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first missionary arrival in Lahaina. It covers most of the space in the park, has 16 major trunks, and scores of horizontally stretching branches reaching across the better part of an acre.
