Beachboys Poipu Beach, Kauai April 30, 1999

There was another marine sport that I had always wanted to try: surfing. I sang Beachboys songs in a band called The Lifesavers in highschool. I go snowboarding in the winter whenever I can. But I had never actually tried surfing -- until Friday April 30th 1999.

It was a great experience and I even managed to catch a couple of waves by myself. There was only one problem. I was not aware that you are supposed to wear a shirt of some sort to protect your skin against the rough surface of the surfboard. As a result, my nipples were on fire for about a week...

Anyway, it was a great way to conclude two weeks of vacation in paradise. We flew back to Tokyo on the following day and have been longing to return to Hawaii ever since. When we do, you'll be the first to know. Until then, Aloha!
